More Random pics

These three are from feb but I thought they showed what a day on our street was like with Snow. Love the 2nd one of the big tree.

This made me laugh. It was a REALLY warm day and these older ladies were sporting their furs....gotta love it!

This is the Empire State Building at night and another bldg that I thought was cool...don't know the name...sorry! I was at a great rooftop bar on 27th for my friend Emily's Bach party.

This is the view from the parking deck of my favorite ny grocery store (that's not trader joes). I will get another pic with better weather. Also, the sunsets are pretty amazing. They kind of look fake...like a movie or something. Drew makes fun of me and says that I am a grocery store snob....I kinda am...it's ok...we all have our issues : ). This store is large and you can find things easier. They also have a decent organic section.

Pop Star Party

One of my jobs in NY is doing entertainmen for children's parties. It can range from holidays, birthdays, Christenings etc. The children can be as young as 3months (you think I am lying). For the most part I really enjoy it.

This past weekend I did my first Hannah Montana party. Legally I am supposed to call her a "pop star party". It was my first one and I am not the usual HM. SO I had to get my costume together, learn some of her music and create a dance to teach little girls. I wasn't overly nervous until I spoke with the Mom who was pretty intense. It got me super nervous.

Well, it ended up being a GREAT party. The birthday girl was SOOOO happy. Her friends were happy too. Some of the funnier moments of the party were when I was teaching them the dance, the Birthday girl said something sweet to HM. I told her she was so sweet and I was going to cry. She asked if she could get me a tissue : ). Another moment was when the Birthday girl's Mom took pictures of me with each girl. As one girl was getting her pic taken, she asked the Mom if she could send the pic to her dad's blackberry....ha ha ha! These kids are TOOOO much for me : ). My other favorite moment was when I was doing facepainting some of the girls were playing in a bedroom. Well, one of them said I was a fake and the girls got in a fight. All the other girls defended me, one girl was crying...Moms were mad at the girl saying such cruel things : ). It was pretty funny!

Drew and I didn't get a good pic before I left the house but I will try again for the future.

Random Pics

I wanted to share some random pics of NYC.

This is JOLLIBEE...it's a fast food chain from the Philippines. The first one on the East Coast opened in Woodside, the next neighborhood over from us. This was the line the day after it opened on Feb 14. Our friends just drove by last week and said there is still a line out the door. I guess everyone likes comfort food. : )

On one of our many walks around the hood we found a church called St.Paul's, which the name of our church in Atlanta. Looks a bit different.

I love the tree lined streets in our neighborhood.

There is an apartment building in Sunnyside that has some tacky stuff outside of it. This was what they had during Valentine's Day. They had a Santa out in Dec. I kept walking by a couple of weeks ago hoping for a Leprechaun :).

This was the snow we got on March 2...pretty until it melts.

I had to take a pic of these boys with their sleds. They actually sell sleds up
here b/c it snows. In GA when we would get freak snows we would have to use the lids to our trash cans or flattened cardboard boxes...oh the south : )

This is the restaurant that they show at the beginning of Seinfeld. I nanny near there.

This was one of the first warmer days we'd had. We passed this park and it wa full of families playing. They were all so happy to be out of their apartments and getting fresh air.

This is the Spanish theatre in our hood. I took a pic for my amigos in Atlanta.

Ok, that's all for today. Will share some more soon.

Georgia Diner on my mind

So Drew and I took some friends to the airport on Sunday and decided we would try this diner called the GA diner since we were out in the car. We've passed by it several times and it always made us wonder why it was called the GA Diner. Would they have grits? sweet tea? peach pankcakes?

Well, our taste buds were disapointed. The diner is covered in peach decor and that is about it. No grits, edible peachs or sweet tea. The inside was like a large Denny's, Ihop, Village inn. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. The tables had peach pictures in the laquered table top, the outside had peaches etched into the marble, the giant neon sign outside is a big peach....but alas none for you to eat.

Drew after his meal...was he pleased??

I didn't forget about you

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. As soon as I got this thing started I got knocked out for a couple of weeks with Bronchitis. WOW, I can't remember the last time I was that sick. Drew had it too and we were a mess. We are much better now, thank the Lord!

Drew and I have been very blessed with visits from friends. It has been great to have people we love to share the city with. Drew's folks drove up with us when we moved and helped us get settled. They also got to spend Drew's 30th with us and we took in a show, "39 Steps". It was great to have them here.

A couple of weeks later brought us a surprise visit from Maggie and Robert. Maggie is one of my closest friends from college(she is also expecting their first baby, a girl, June 4th) and they came to surprise me for my 30th birthday (Drew's too). It was so wonderful to have them here and Drew did a great job of keeping it under wraps. We had some great adventures with them. I think my favorite was when we left Drew and Robert at a bar watching a UGA game and Mags and I went exploring. Well, to make a long story short we had no clue where we were going and had an interesting adventure walking all over South Manhattan.

This is Maggie and I on our adventure

After they left Amy and Jerry, another close friend from college and her husband, stayed with us to also celebrate our 30th Birthdays. Jerry had never been to NYC so it was a lot of taking in some of the touristy spots with them. One of my favorite outings with them was when we went to the Build a Muppet workshop at FAO Schwartz. They made a muppet for their son Grayson for Christmas. It was so COOL and fun to see them create Grayson's very own muppet! It was awesome and a huge blessing to have friends to visit us for our b-days. I didn't take turning 30 hard but being away from family and friends on the day was hard. Our schedules and lives get so crazy these days and sometime's its hard to see everyone and keep in touch like you want etc. Thanks guys for blessing me with your friendship!

My Mom got to visit us for Thanksgiving. That was fun to get to share Sunnyside and other fun things with her. We joined forces with our friends Leah and Jeremy (will share more about them soon) to make Thanksgiving dinner. It was a great group with the two couples, Mom and our dear friend Irene from Korea. Irene got to experience her first Thanksgiving ever with some good ole southern casseroles ;). A fun outing with Mom was the City of NYC museum. It was a really cool experience and I love history, as does Mom.

January brought us some great friends from Atlanta, Gabriel and Jessie Dean. We met them in ATL doing shows and then Gabriel became our realtor and helped us find our AWESOME house. We were so happy to have them here but we felt awful b/c that was right smack in the middle of us being sick. They were very understanding!

Feb brought our friends Anne and Dom from MN. They were our first couple friends when we got married. We all lived in Macon/Warner Robins area and met doing theatre. Two very different couples from very different backgrounds who formed an amazing friendship. We started an Oscars couple rivalry with each other to see who guess the most Oscar wins each year. They moved to LA in June 2003 and we moved to Charleston, SC. We kept the competition up every year. We tried to get visits in here and there and they never worked out. Between all of our jobs and all of our moving it never worked out. Well, they decided to come see us for the Oscars this year. 5 1/2 years later we reunited and had a great weekend!

It's been awesome to have visitors here. This transition has been hard at times and it's always nice to have friends here to bring some joy!

I have rambled enough for today. I will try to get back on here more often and post and update you. Have a good weekend! It's supposed to get into the 60's here! whooo hoo!
