Not your typical Valentine's Day

I've been reading every one's posts about Valentine's day and it made me want to share.  Drew and I had a very stressful, exciting and enlightening Valentine's day this year.  We didn't spend it eating yummo Italian food with a big bottle of vino by candlelight.  We were in Tempe, Arizona-auditioning/interviewing for grad school.

Drew and I flew out on Sunday night on the LAST flight out of Charleston.  Drew had a super busy day as he played trumpet in church that morning and had a matinee performance of his show(25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee).  We had a short layover in ATL with a BAD food court dinner experience...I will spare you the deets on that one!  We arrived in Arizona a little before Midnight (their time).  Got our overly priced rental car...boo Priceline and drove to our VERY nice Sheraton...Yay Priceline!  Sidenote-the LA Angels, who were in spring training in Tempe, were staying in our hotel.

The next morning, Valentine's day, we drove to the campus of the school and did our thing.  We will have several weeks before we know the outcome...but we know God is in control and if one or both of us is supposed to be in school...His will be done!

Our 2nd night, V-day night, we stayed with family.  My aunt Jean lives in Phoenix.  Oddly enough, this was my 2nd time meeting her. The first time I was only a year old....so needless to say I don't remember her.    While Drew was sitting in on a class Monday afternoon I went to my aunt's house to drop our stuff off and visit with her. I had such a blast getting to know her.  She is a very neat woman who had lots of stories to tell.  I found out that she and her husband, Uncle Joe, got married after only 11 days of courting. WOW...11 days...He always told people it wasn't right for everyone but was for them.  They were married for 54 years when he passed away.  She also told me about their first Valentine's Day.  They'd only been married about 6 months at the time and the card he got her said "To my Friend".  She was SO distraught and couldn't believe it didn't say "To my Wife" or "To my love". He told her he liked the picture better in the "friend" card.  Such a typical man ; ).

That night her son, my cousin, came over with his wife and we all went to dinner together.  They treated us to a great mexican place, and if you know us, you KNOW we love mexican.  It was such a special and fun night.  We were both beyond exhausted but enjoyed our getting to know new family.  The best part was after spending time with my aunt I felt like I'd known her my whole life. What a great, special and different Valentine's Day.

But Not For Me

Why is it when you can't have something, you have an insatiable need for it?  An urgent craving that MUST be filled...STAT...for a large glass of
Wine! Yes, I want a nice, large glass of wine.  But alas, I am on day 4 of a 10 day antibiotic and I can't have any.  But the desire for just a sip of the good stuff won't go away.  Needless to say, I'm having to fill this craving with a nice warm cup of

Tea...it's good, it's relaxing...it's not the same!

What makes it worse is that I've been having a marathon viewing of "Brothers and Sisters" (Thank you netflix) and they are ALWAYS drinking wine...and they own a vineyard.   I want to join in with the Walker clan and have a nice glass of Merlot.

I will be a good girl though and wait until I have kicked this little bug!

I sleep in Passe

This is random I know. But it's the truth.  I try to sleep on back, stretched out with no tension in my body but it doesn't really work for me.  A lot of the time I like to sleep on one side or the other or curled up in the fetal position.  Well, today I realized I also sleep in passe.  I've been a little under the weather and today was the first day I got out.  After lunch I realized I was feeling a little woozy so I went to lie down.  I tossed and turned a bit and finally found comfortable position.  With my right leg in passe and Artie (one of my cats) sleeping in the little triangle.  What is passe you ask?
This is passe...of course I wasn't sleeping in this tutu : ).  This all very random I know and apparently I felt the need to share.

Do you have any weird quirks when you sleep?

Can't sit still

So, the hubster and I are on the go...as always.  Over the past 8 1/2 yrs (yes, I said 8 1/2 and no we were teens when we got married) we have lived in tons of places.  We've moved more than the years we've been married.  We are in theatre and that is to blame for a lot of it...so in the beginning of our marriage we moved from gig to gig.  Kind of theatre gypsies if you will.

The longest we have lived anywhere was Atlanta.  We were there almost 3 years.  We had a brief stint in NYC and now we are in Charleston, SC.  I've loved all of these places for a variety of reasons.  I will write about them sometime soon.

We are gearing up for the next move.  Where you ask? That is a good question b/c we don't know either...lol.  There are a lot of questions in the air and a lot of "what ifs."  So, as I vaguely touch on this subject, I ask for prayers.  Prayers that the right doors open and the wrong doors close.  We are open to seeing what God has in store!

I am a .me

It's true...I have finally broken down and created a website for my theatre career. My url is a dot.me b/c some dude owns lindseylamb.com...boo on him! I have resisted this for a LONG time and finally decided that it was time. It's a little nerve-wracking to start one and it was definitely mind boggling! I am very appreciative of one of my best friend's, Amy, who donated the use of her TALENT husband Jerry. Jerry designed and created the site for me. He's a talented dude and if you need a website...you should check him out.

So without further adieu...check out www.lindseylamb.me
