HAIRSPRAY

So, Drew and I have been working on a show for the past month and we open this week. It's the musical HAIRSPRAY and we are both performing in it and I did the choreography. The original Broadway production opened on Broadway 2002 and the movie musical version came out in Summer of 2007. Most people know the show from the movie version and maybe even the broadway production. But I know the show from the original John Waters 1988 non-musical movie with Ricki Lake. This movie was a part of my childhood in a big way. I LOVED this movie and can quote most of it. I love the 60's, the dancing, the hair, make-up...etc. It's been really cool to be a part of this show and think back on how happy Hairspray makes me : ).

working

For the past two years I have been working an assortment of odd jobs. The latest is working at a dance school. I love it! I love working with children, teaching them, choreographing, working on shows...etc. I love the boys I nanny but it's so nice to be doing something in my field. I am looking forward to the fall and a schedule full of this! Thank you Lord for work!

Summer, Summer Summertime

So below is my blog attempt to explain our move last summer. I never finished it and here we are 9 months into our life in Charleston.

8/19/09
Drew and I have had a wonderful summer and I am going to add pics soon. We have had some great adventures together. I have to say that I am thankful everyday for having such a great husband. We have so much fun together.

Part of the reason for our adventures is that Drew and I decided to make a NYC bucket list of things we want to accomplish here and in the Northeast before we leave. Yeppers...you heard right. Lindsey and Drew are on the move...again ; ). We have had a great/interesting/growing time in NYC but are ready to move on to the next chapter. Next stop, if you are wondering, is Charleston, SC. We are super excited and looking forward to being near family and friends again soon. Moving day is Sept 25!

Yeah, so we moved last year and have been very involved in Charleston. We've both gotten some great opportunities theatre-wise. Drew has directed, I choreographed, taught theatre and dance and we both performed. We both miss NYC more then we thought we would. We often joke about moving back...not sure if we are joking or not. We definitely need to visit SOON!

Charleston is a beautiful place, although the heat this summer is unbearable! We've been attending our old church Redeemer Presbyterian here. It's been great to re-connect with some old church friends. It's also been fun to meet new people! We've also gotten to know the theatre community a bit here and made some great friends through that. Another blessing has been that two of my closest friends from college happen to be here now. Maggie and Angie were both theatre majors with us and they were in our wedding. Maggie and her husband Robert live here with their little girl Molly. Angie and her little girl Kam are about to expand their family in Charleston when Angie and Dewayne get married in 2 weeks. Dewayne also has a little girl nameds Lexi. It's been SUCH a blessing being this close to them. I know it won't be forever but I will cherish it now.

So that is a little update on us for now. I will post some Charleston pics soon.

Roadtrip

This past Saturday, Drew and I took a roadtrip with our friends Justin and Brance. We were heading to Plymouth, MA for a reception honoring the marriage of our friend Derek and his wife Jen. Here are some pics of our adventure. I love good friends and good times. These pics are all in opposite order of the when they happened. Blogspot and I are not agreeing right now on picture postings : (.

We got to see the actual Plymouth ROCK!

The newlyweds and our gang. They got married in March in UT, where she is from. They had this reception in MA where he is from.
Pretty Dancing!! They are both great.

Neighborhood and more random pics

This is a HUGE barrel of MSG from a truck in chinatown...This was hilarious to me for some reason. NOBODY wants MSG in their food...lol.
This is a great little shop in our hood. You can get the yummiest hummus, baba ganoush and sandwiches for cheap, cheap, cheap!!
This is our ABSOLUTE favorite diner in our neighborhood. We love Foxy's Saturday brunch. The food is great, prices decent and the service is fab. The owner and most of the wait staff know us. I love it!

A cool shop one block away from us. They specialize in British/Irish food imports and have great cuts of meat. Our friends who visited us did a semester abroad in London and were so happy when we brought them to this store. Lots of fun food items!

Some classy Easter decorations :)

An interesting bldg in our hood.

A sign in Chelsea that made me happy b/c it made me think of our cat Artie.

This is in our hood and I took the pic for my sister, Lauren.
